Twitter Restricted in Nigeria: After Tweet Deleted of President Muhammadu Buhari

Nigerian people are now not able to use Twitter due to its suspension. The decision to restrict micro-blogging social media platform Twitter was taken after two days of an incident where Twitter deleted President Muhammadu Buhari’s tweet for violating its rules.

On the restriction of Twitter Nigeria said that it is indefinitely suspending Twitter’s operations in the country, on account of the president's tweet deletion, in his tweet he threatened to punish regional secessionists for attacks on the Nigeria government buildings.

Twitter is still working in Africa’s countries soon after a surprise announcement of the Nigeria Government restricting twitter. The information ministry of Nigeria itself announces the restriction of this one of the topmost micro-blogging platform Twitter, which was shocking news for the users of Nigeria as they were using Twitter actively. It is one of the most popular application in the country.

The Information Ministry Lai Mohammed said the government had acted because of “the president's use of the platform for activities that are capable of undermining Nigeria’s corporate existence.” The Lai Mohammed hasn’t shared detailed information on the restriction of Twitter yet.
 


“The announcement made by the Nigerian Government that they have suspended Twitter’s operation in Nigeria is deeply concerning,” Twitter responded to the suspension with this statement.
